What you say about feeling like there is a wall of fog hemming you in is familiar to me. I have described it as feeling like I've been half-asleep for most of my life. Not quite here.
It's like the stuff close up to me is pretty clear and familiar and I navigate it fine, but anything else further out just seems too scary.
I have to actually watch it on my perception capabilities in new situations too because if there's too much information coming in then I make dumb mistakes. When I first started doing the meat run for D, part of the procedure for dropping off at the tiger people's involved backing the truck into the compound. I had done food delivery for more than a year and had gotten quite practiced at backing up (driving backwards, really) but for some reason, the first couple times I tried it there I had a lot of trouble.
If someone's going to wind up thinking I'm an idiot or "special" in a bad way it'll be when they first meet me. I'm adjusting to the new situation and not firing on all cylinders.
My son is autistic. He lives with me, similar experiences, he shares it all with me .we have long conversations about his thoughts, experiences the way his brain operates. I find him fascinating. I think you are fascinating, I do. Its / you are not weird , I love the way you think and see the world. You may not think you fit , but you do. Be you, its those that change the world a little at a time
