I just saw this in my Facebook feed and remembered that I’d been meaning to address this. It’s almost 11pm here and I really should go to bed but this won’t take long.
Okay. This is about a mental state called autogynephilia, or AGP, which means being aroused by the idea of yourself as a woman. A lot of trans-identified men argue that there is no such thing. Here’s the example I just saw in my newsfeed:
As you can see, along with not knowing what the word woman means, these troons are not very clear on why this argument against the existence of AGP doesn’t really work.
When we imagine ourselves as something, that means we are not that thing already. If I imagine myself as a unicorn, that means I am currently not a unicorn but am trying to conceptualize how it would feel to be one.
It works the same way with imagining oneself as a woman. A person who is already a woman doesn’t have to imagine herself as a woman. She already is one and already knows what it feels like to be one. If you have to imagine yourself as a woman, that is because you are not a woman. Girls, boys, and grown men may imagine themselves as a woman. Women never have to. Womanhood is our perpetual reality.
(Yes, I know girls and women are on the same continuum, but there are physical experiences women have that girls aren’t able to have yet. Anyway, if I have to explain this to you, you’re some kind of male and probably a troon. Just stop.)
Let’s suppose for a moment that the first troon in this screenshot really did see something about a study in which ninety percent of women report being “excited by” our own “femininity.” Apart from the fact I have no fucking idea what that means. A woman being excited by her own currently-existing femininity is a completely different situation from that of a man imagining himself as a woman and thus popping a boner. The woman is aroused by what is. The man is aroused by what he wishes he were. I don’t think I can possibly make this any clearer.
The notion of a woman being excited by imagining herself in an erotic situation is not the same thing as a woman being excited by her own femininity, either. Even though I’m not entirely sure what the latter means. The former is imagining oneself in a situation in which one does not exist currently. The latter presumably involves being excited by a state one is already in.
(And just for the record. One, you can’t measure whether women get aroused by femininity if you haven’t clearly defined what you mean by femininity. Two, butch lesbians get sexually excited too; how would you categorize that?)
But something I’ve noticed about gendergits is they can never focus on the argument for what it is. They must constantly change the subject, move the goalposts, throw up strawmen, introduce red herrings, and engage in bad faith because if they took our arguments on face value and addressed them as they are, they’d lose immediately. They know it, too.
The fact they want to be “women” so they can fuck lesbians or, more rarely, stealth-fuck straight men should tell you everything you need to know about these idiots. Yes. AGP is a thing. Whether they want to be a woman who gets lesbians or a woman who gets men, they want to be a woman who gets laid as a woman, and they want to be a woman for no other reason. Otherwise you’d see some of them identifying as short-haired frumpy fiftysomething cat ladies living alone, knitting, and being celibate.
Someone please explain to me how living out a fetish became a civil rights category. I think Dave Chappelle is right: white men. No one gave a shit about men of other races trooning out until a lot of white men got in on the action. Makes me afraid we are never going to see the end of this, considering the general history and all.
